Drake Is Projected To Take Over Jay-Z’s Billboard Record With ‘ICEMAN’ Album Trilogy

Drake and his former collaborator Jay-Z have shared a fairly contentious relationship throughout their careers. What began as competitive respect appears to have evolved into resentful tension, as Drizzy took shots at Hov multiple times on ICEMAN, one of his three new albums.

As it turns out, the situation could gain even more context if the Toronto superstar breaks the Brooklyn mogul’s staggering Billboard record.

Drake is aiming for a huge ICEMAN debut, as the album could sell up to 520K album-equivalent units in its first week, based on early projections. This would likely secure a No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart and mark his 15th chart-topping album.

The achievement would break The Boy’s current tie with Jay-Z for the most No. 1 albums by a rapper, according to chart data shared on Twitter. Both artists currently have 14 chart-toppers. In addition, they are tied for the most No. 1 albums by a male solo artist overall.

If the OVO boss takes ICEMAN to No. 1, he would reach 15 chart-topping albums, tying him with Taylor Swift for the most No. 1 albums by a solo artist.

Only The Beatles have more chart-topping projects, with 19. Of course, there is also a chance the 6ix God could surpass Taylor if MAID OF HONOUR or HABIBTI eventually reach No. 1 as well.
