Asake Returns With Highly Awaited Fourth Studio Album ‘M$NEY’

Four albums deep into his career—with two Grammy nominations, a record-breaking run on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart, and recognition as Spotify Nigeria’s most-streamed artist—Asake returns with M$NEY, his fourth studio album. The 13-track project, released on May 1 through GIRAN REPUBLIC and EMPIRE, marks another bold step in his evolution.

M$NEY stands out as his most sonically adventurous body of work yet. It kicks off with a live choral arrangement—an unexpected opener that immediately sets the tone—before weaving through orchestral elements, jazz-influenced strings, dance rhythms, and amapiano textures. The album deliberately stretches beyond the boundaries of a typical Afrobeats project.

Reflecting on the release, Asake describes M$NEY as a deeply personal offering shaped by gratitude, faith, and growth. According to him, the project draws from his life experiences while staying rooted in authenticity, blending familiar sounds with new creative directions.

Listeners first got a preview of the album in early 2025 with “Why Love,” followed by “Badman Gangsta,” featuring Tiakola. That track stood out for its inventive flip of Amerie’s “1 Thing,” signaling his willingness to experiment. He later expanded the album’s global reach with “Worship,” a collaboration with DJ Snake.

Beyond the previously released singles, the album introduces new cuts like “Gratitude,” “Forgiveness,” and “Asambe,” the latter featuring South African amapiano heavyweight Kabza De Small—a collaboration likely to resonate across both markets.

M$NEY arrives on the heels of REAL Vol. 1, his 2025 joint EP with Wizkid, and adds to a strong catalog that includes Mr Money With the Vibe (2022), Work of Art (2023), and Lungu Boy (2024). The latter remains the longest-running number-one album in Nigerian chart history and ranks among the country’s most-streamed projects ever.
