Davido Joins Fela Kuti As The Only Other Nigerian Artiste With This Record

Global Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido is set to be inducted into the Black Music and Entertainment Walk of Fame Class of 2026 in Atlanta, becoming only the second Nigerian artist after Fela Kuti to receive the prestigious honour.

The recognition highlights Davido’s immense influence on global music and his continued role in taking Afrobeats to wider international audiences. He joins a distinguished group of entertainers and cultural figures celebrated for shaping Black music, culture and entertainment worldwide.

Organisers confirmed that the 2026 induction ceremony is scheduled for June 1 in Atlanta’s Historic Westside, where honourees will be recognised for their lasting contributions to the entertainment industry.

Founded by the Black American Music Association and the Georgia Entertainment Caucus, the Walk of Fame was created to honour trailblazers whose work has left a significant mark on Black entertainment across generations.

Davido joins a remarkable list of 2026 inductees that includes Ludacris, Paul S. Morton and Maynard Jackson. His induction further cements his place among celebrated African icons such as Fela Kuti, who has also been honoured by the organisation.

Since launching in 2021, the Walk of Fame has recognised several global stars, including Beyoncé, Usher, Stevie Wonder and Mary J. Blige.

Each honouree receives a commemorative plaque displayed along the Atlanta walkway, celebrating their impact on Black culture and the global entertainment scene.

Over the years, Davido has evolved into one of Africa’s biggest music exports. His 2023 album Timeless earned Grammy nominations, while his latest project, 5IVE, continues to elevate his global reputation.
