Popular Nigerian singer Seun Kuti has stirred controversy after suggesting that American streamer IShowSpeed’s recent African tour may have been more than just a cultural visit.
In a viral video, Seun alleged that the tour could have been linked to Elon Musk, claiming—without providing evidence—that it was sponsored to help map the reach of Musk’s satellite coverage across parts of Africa.
He also recounted an earlier interaction with members of the tour team, saying he had been contacted by the promoter and producer ahead of their Nigeria stop. According to him, plans to meet were initially discussed but later fell through, with no follow-up when the group arrived.
Seun further claimed that attempts to reach the team afterward were unsuccessful, and suggested there was more happening behind the scenes than the public was aware of.
He went on to speculate that the trip involved visits to remote or less-developed areas, implying it may have served an undisclosed purpose beyond content creation.
He claims:
“After IShowSpeed’s promoter and producer of his African tour called that we want to see you and I agreed. But they didn’t call me again or come to the shrine again when they reached Nigeria, and the promoter is my friend but I don’t want to mention the name.
I called and sent messages but none of them responded. After the whole thing, he started sending me some kind of yeye message. Well e no even concern me too much because I don’t really mind, so I let it go.
“Only to find out the day before yesterday that Elon Musk was the one that sponsored the whole thing to know where his satellite don reach for Africa. That’s why they were visiting bushy areas. So, all that was a spy job for Elon Musk”
Meanwhile, IShowSpeed, who toured around 20 African countries in January 2026, had previously stated that the purpose of his visit was to showcase and celebrate African culture through his platform.
